Huskers post 3-0 record at BYUProvo, Utah - The Nebraska volleyball team finished a perfect weekend at the BYU Nike Invitational on Saturday night with a sweep of Idaho State (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The Huskers opened on Friday with a win over host school BYU (3-1) and then swept Cal Poly for the fourth consecutive time earlier Saturday afternoon.
Junior Jordan Wilberger led the Nebraska offense with a career-best 11 kills on 16 swings to hit .625, while Gina Mancuso tied her career best in kills with 10. Brooke Delano continued to hold down the middle of the court with a match-high eight blocks, while Kayla Banwarth and Hannah Werth were the only players in the match to notch double-digit digs at 15 and 10, respectively.
The Bengals took the early lead in set one, 3-0, after kills from Sarah Carson and Lori Mendenhall, along with a Husker error, before Wilberger got Nebraska on the board with a kill. The Bengals would hold the lead at 5-3, but Nebraska would put up a 10-2 run to take the lead 13-7, powered by aces from Delano and Lauren Cook, as well as two kills each from Delano and Mancuso.

Huskers Leave State of Nebraska for First Time in 2010
After playing its first three games of the 2010 season in Omaha, Neb., the No. 7 Nebraska volleyball team will travel outside its home state for the first time in 2010 this weekend to Provo, Utah, for the BYU Nike Invitational.

Creighton to host Nebraska on Tuesday nightNext Match
Creighton (1-2) hosts in-state rival Nebraska (1-1) in a Tuesday night match slated for a 7 pm start.
It will mark the Cornhuskers first visit to the Creighton campus for a regular-season volleyball match since a 1980 contest in the Kiewit Center.
The match will be held at D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center. Capacity for the facility is listed at 2,950. The match is sold out.

LINCOLN — It wasn't flawless. But John Cook hopes it will be just what his players need.
The second-ranked Nebraska volleyball team took the stage for its full-costume tuneup Saturday night, with the Huskers' red team outlasting the whites 28-26, 21-25, 25-20 in a three-set scrimmage.
Huskers hold preseason scrimmageLINCOLN — Nearly 3,800 fans packed the NU Coliseum on Saturday night to watch the No. 2 Nebraska volleyball team’s annual Red-White Scrimmage, as the Red squad took two-of-three sets (28-26, 21-25, 25-20). After practicing in an empty gym for the past two weeks, the Huskers were able to get out and performer in a regular-season type of atmosphere.
“The first thing we were looking for was how well they would compete,” coach John Cook said. “Even though we ran three different lineups tonight on both sides of the net, I thought they competed really well.”

And he loved what he saw in the second week.
